Atlantis Computing Demonstrates VDI Cost Savings at VMworld

Atlantis VDI Demonstration Shows 50-75% Reduction in VDI Storage CAPEX Costs

Mountain View, CA August 30th, 2010 — Atlantis Computing, a leading provider of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) storage and performance optimization solutions, today announced that it will be demonstrating live at VMworld 2010—booth #1140—a VDI deployment that includes Atlantis ILIO, VMware View, Cisco UCS, Compellent Storage, IBM, Dell, McAfee anti-virus and Microsoft Windows 7. The demonstration will show how companies can reduce storage VDI CAPEX by 50–75% while giving them more flexibility in storage selection. In addition, Atlantis Computing will be holding an event title “Stalled VDI Project? Storage Too Expensive?” featuring Daniel Beveridge, Sr. VMware View Architect, Office of the CTO for VMware, and John Premus, Service Director for Virtualization at GlassHouse Technologies.

Atlantis Computing Event: Stalled VDI Projects? Storage Too Expensive?

“The first factor is the amount and class of storage that must be provisioned to each virtual desktop. From an IT budgeting point of view, this is where a vast majority of VDI deployments never get beyond the proof-of-concept or pilot phase. Put off by high storage costs, many companies will opt to continue purchasing inexpensive new desktops and go forward with their current infrastructures,” said Daniel Beveridge and John Premus in their article title Virtual Acceleration in Virtualization Review Magazine.

Daniel Beveridge will discuss how IT organizations can cut CAPEX for any VDI solution while boosting desktop performance and increasing storage choices. John Premus will demonstrate the GlassHouse Technologies Lab, which can deploy a cloud-based VDI proof-of-concept (POC) in 1 day with any combination of VMware View, VMware ThinApp, Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp, Microsoft App-V and AppSense Environment Manager using Atlantis ILIO. John will also share the details of the 90% VDI storage capacity reduction and 80% VDI Storage IOPS offload that GlassHouse Technologies was able to achieve using Atlantis ILIO.

The event will be held on August 31st at 2:00PM at the Marriot Marquis San Francisco, which is one block from VMworld. For more information and to register, visit www.atlantiscomputing.com/VDIStorageDesign

Atlantis VDI Demonstration: 50-75% VDI CAPEX Reduction

Atlantis Computing will be exhibiting at the VMworld 2010 conference at Moscone Center in San Francisco from August 30th to September 2nd at booth #1140. A live VDI environment will be used to provide information on how to size VDI storage properly based on IOPS requirements, and show side-by-side (with and without Atlantis ILIO) demonstrations of desktop performance with boot storms, simulated IO traffic, Microsoft Office productivity tasks and McAfee anti-virus. The demonstrations will also show how Atlantis ILIO is able to reduce storage consumption by 98% and offload 99% of IOPS from storage.

About Atlantis Computing

Atlantis Computing is transforming enterprise desktop computing by solving the challenges of desktop virtualization: storage costs and user acceptance. Atlantis ILIO reduces VDI storage costs and complexity, boosts desktop performance and streamlines image management. Atlantis ILIO’s patent-pending IO virtualization technology is delivered as an appliance that transparently consolidates desktop images and offloads IO intensive Windows operations from VDI storage. Atlantis Computing is privately held and funded by El Dorado Ventures, Partech International and Cisco Systems with headquarters in Mountain View California and a research and development center in Bangalore India.
